Updated nursery pictures

Wow, this is quite the impatient group! I'm sorry for not updating sooner, but my mom & I were working on the nursery up until we left for Christmas- and we just got home on Saturday evening! So here goes:

Close up picture of crib fabric & letters

Close up of paint & new chair moulding (khaki on top, chocolate brown on bottom, white rail.)

Coming in the door- changing table with chocolate brown baskets, khaki glider, new drapes, lamp (still need a white table next to glider.)

Close up of lamp (we were still making it- hence the pins to hold the glue until it dried)

Close up of drapes (chocolate brown with turquoise blue polka dots)

Changing table & shelf that I painted. I also made the cute ABC blocks on top that match! The pillow is from our guest bedroom, but my mom is going to make the same shape out of the paisley & stripe fabrics.

Moving over a little- showing the redone armoire (sanded, painted, new hardware) Those are picture frames on top of the armoire right now.

More of the armoire & the crib (my mom still has to make the ties for the bumper- to hold on to the railings.) She is also making more crib sheets in different patterns & hopefully a blanket out of the polka dot fabric & a soft minky fabric! The mobile is little white & cream lambs with turquoise & brown bows around their necks.

Close up of bumpers- made of paisley fabric with polka dot fabric on top, bottom and sides. There are also small brown/white sheer polka dot bows on the inside of the bumper. The ties will be a solid brown fabric matching the bottom of the crib skirt. The crib sheet also has a small pattern to it, but is hard to see in the pics!

Obviously we need a few more things on the wall & to sit around, but I'll work on that as time goes on. :) I can't wait for people to come and see it in person! I'll be posting later this week about our Christmas with more belly pics- I'm getting HUGE!

Week 26

I'm sure this isn't the type of update that everyone was wanting, but it's all you're going to get! You can't see the nursery yet! My parents are here this week & we are working on getting a few things done- so I'll post pics at the END of the week.... be patient! :)

Here's the most recent belly pic of me- Shane took it tonight. It was taken just after dinner, so I'm sure the reason I look so big is because I was REALLY full (at least that's what I'm telling myself!) I'm feeling good though- just starting to feel heavy in the front & having some backaches.

My Keller & Dallas showers have been rescheduled to March 1-2 weekend due to some conflicts, so I'm having to re-do parts of the scrapbook/baby book. My good friend, Kristen, tells me that this is just preparing me for parenthood- you can't plan things. I'm a big planner, so this makes me feel quite uneasy.

In other news, we signed up for some parenting classes today! We're taking Childbirth, Infant CPR, Breastfeeding, and Baby Basics (this is a class for idiots like me that have never changed a diaper & have NO clue how to care for a baby.) You think I'm kidding, but I'm not! Anyway, all of the classes are in January, so I'm looking forward to it.... I can't tell if Shane is or not....

I'm off to take a nap- I've been up since 4:30am because I couldn't sleep. Another way that Austin is preparing me for his arrival I guess!

Christmas Q&A

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Definitely wrapping paper! I love to wrap gifts and have big bows on top!

2. Real tree or artificial? I grew up with real trees, but Shane and I have opted for artificial- mostly because of cost. Our tree is pre-lit, which is another favorite of mine!

3. When do you put up the tree? Almost always the weekend after Thanksgiving! This year I put it up the day before Thanksgiving because I knew we'd be busy afterwards!

4. When do you take the tree down? After New Years because we are traveling until then.

5. Do you like eggnog? Yes, but in small quantities- it's rich! My Uncle Jim got me started on it when I was little!

6. Favorite gift received as a child? Anything Barbie or Cabbage Patch Kids!

7. Do you have a nativity scene? No

8. Hardest person to buy for? My parents because they will buy for themselves whatever they don't already have.

9. Easiest person to buy for? My sister-in-law, Shanna. She gives me a very long detailed list of options in mid-November! Talk about being on the ball!

10. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? That's a horrible question! I honestly can't think of anything!

11. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail! But this year we are not sending out Christmas cards since we'll be sending out baby announcements a few months later!

12. Favorite Christmas Movie? Christmas Vacation or Elf.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Usually before Thanksgiving, but don't finish up until a few weeks before Christmas! I can't stand waiting until the last minute and then braving the crowds at the mall!

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? No

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Desserts- especially pumpkin & pecan pie! And any type of holiday baked goods/candy!

16. Clear lights or colored? Clear (for both inside and out)

17. Favorite Christmas song? I like them all, but I do love the new Josh Groban "Noel" CD!

18. Travel for Christmas or stay at home? We go to Shane's family for Christmas Eve (when they celebrate Christmas), then drive back to Dallas on Christmas morning to celebrate with my Dad's family. After Christmas we celebrate with my Mom's family either in Ft Worth or Amarillo (this year it's Amarillo.) We do Christmas with my parents whenever we can fit it in! But when we have kids, I want to spend more time at home!

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? Yes, if I sing the song.

20. Angel on the tree top or star? Star

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? It's always been Christmas morning for me, but with Shane's family we open everything on Christmas Eve– which took a while for me to get adjusted to!

22. Most annoying thing about this time of year? When people are greedy & don't appreciate the true meaning of Christmas- it's not about the gifts.

23. What I love most about Christmas? Spending time with family & friends, visiting, & EATING!

A busy baby weekend

Saturday morning Shane's dad & brother-in-law came over to the house to help put up chair rail moulding in the nursery! I am very pleased with how everything turned out- of course we still need to figure out what colors to paint the room! Meanwhile my mom is busy on the nursery bedding! She's finished the curtains & has started on the crib skirt- whoo hoo! She's bringing it with her for Christmas! Here are a few pics of the nursery- just keep in mind there is a LOT of white since we don't have paint or fabric yet! We also still need to re-finish the armoire- I'm not happy with it right now. Oh, and the glider chair will go in the corner near the window- with a little side table next to it! The last picture is the main fabrics that we're going to use in the nursery. I won't tell you the specifics on where everything goes YET!

Sunday we headed to the mall for one more Christmas gift & then went to Babies R Us to work on the registry. There is still a lot of editing to do, but we got a lot done in the two hours we were there! The ladies in the store were quite impressed with my "list" and "research" beforehand- hey, I knew I needed to minimize the time Shane spent in there! I let him be in charge of the scanning gun, so he was happy! We still need to register at Target as well, but I'm not in a hurry because my showers aren't until February. DFW showers are the weekend of Feb 9-10 & Austin is Feb 23!

Today I went to Hobby Lobby & got scrapbook paper for the baby's album- I want to make a cute one to take to my showers for everyone to sign & write messages to our little boy! And then when he arrives I'll add pictures, etc. I'm still in search for a cute album, and then I'll get to work! Here's some of the paper I bought!

Finally, Shane took an updated belly pics for you all- so enjoy the sight of me getting bigger & BIGGER!

And it's a..........

BOY! Yes, the majority of you were wrong! We had the sonogram done today, and there was absolutely no doubt that we're having a baby boy! He was moving a lot! We even got to see him yawn- which was so cute! My doctor said everything looked perfect & all the measurements were on track.

Here are a few of the pics that they took! Well I'm off to the grocery store & then home to start finalizing my fabric options for the nursery! We are both so happy to finally know what we are having, and that he's as healthy as can be! Shane is beyond excited that it's a boy, and I'm thinking "a boy... this is going to be an adventure... but a great one!"

Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful trip to Victoria, TX to visit Shane's family for Thanksgiving! I didn't get many pictures- but wanted to post these two. Sorry for the red-eyes... I don't know what is going on with our camera!

The drive down on Wednesday was typical- very frustrating because of the traffic. Have I said how much I hate driving on I35? We arrived in time to eat dinner with Shane's sister & mom (his dad was working & our brother-in-law couldn't make the trip because of work.) On Thursday we headed over to Maw Maw & Paw Paw's house (Shane's grandparents) for our annual grazing. I was beyond stuffed! On Friday we ventured out to brave the crowds at a few stores, but thankfully made it back in time to watch the Longhorns get beat. I was so disappointed- but at least we didn't have to watch them get beat in person like we did last year!

We headed home yesterday- in traffic yet again. The only thing that made it better was that I knew the crib had been delivered & was waiting for us at home! We took it out of the box & will probably put it together today- I love it!

Today we'll be watching football & moving some stuff up into the attic. Anything to make this day go by quickly because tomorrow can not come soon enough! My sono appt is at 1pm followed by my dr appt at 1:45! I will be making a few calls & then posted the big news online when we get home! Any final guesses? :)
