Destin- Part 4

Friday
We got up and headed to the beach- thought we'd give it another try. Thing didn't go much better, but he did end up playing in the sand (but only with one hand while sitting on the beach towel!) We got in one more lunch at Pompano Joe's with friends & then I did some shopping while Austin napped! After dinner my mom & I took Austin for a ride in the wagon~

Playing in the sand

He doesn't even like the sight the ocean (ignore how high his hat is sitting!)

One last walk on the beach with mommy

He's getting so big

Stopping for a drink of water on the golf course

Playing in the neighbors sprinklers on the way home :)

Saturday
After playing with Gigi & Papa all morning, we went to lunch with friends before heading to the airport. We had a wonderful week & can't wait to go back soon- hopefully with Shane joining us next time!

A quick bath in Gigi's tub before lunch

Trying his first lemon- his facial expressions were priceless!

Destin- Part 3

Thursday
The highlight of our day was going swimming at Nana & Jim's swimming pool- it's really nice! Austin is fearless when it comes to a swimming pool, and it scares me to death! He had lots of fun & was wore out by the time we headed home!

Ready to go swimming

Notice both of our mouths- twins I tell ya!

Constantly climbing out.....

And jumping in

Having fun with mommy

Hopping

Floating

He kept making this face & it cracked me up

Austin enjoyed throwing the shells into the pool & then having mommy retrieve them

Destin- Part 2

Wednesday
We ate lunch with my mom's friends, Linda & Judy, at this place that has the BEST fried grouper- YUM! After that we headed to Destin Common (a local outdoor shopping area) that has a nice playground & sprinkler park. Again, Austin was a little unsure at first.. but ended up having a fabulous time & pitching a big fit when it was time to leave. But before we let him play in the water, I took Austin on the train! That evening we played in the backyard & on the golf course!

Riding the train with mommy

Can you tell he was excited about the playground & sprinkler park?

Going down the slide with Gigi

Timid at first

Liking it a bit more

Out of control

Look at those muscles!

Riding his John Deere tractor (actually being pushed by Gigi because it needs a new battery)

He loves pine cones

Showing his true personality- we had to stop anytime he got dirt, sand, grass on him & clean it off. Yes, he is my child :)

Running down the hill with mommy

Big smile

I love his little guy so much!

Destin- Part 1

Austin & I were lucky enough to spend last week in Destin, FL with my parents! They bought our tickets to come visit while Shane was in San Francisco doing some training! We flew out on Saturday afternoon & got settled at the house...before embarking on a very long night. Once again Austin was terrified of sleeping in a crib/in a room alone that is not his own. So he ended up sleeping in my bed every night & for naps everyday. That sounds simple enough, right? It wasn't- I had to lay next to him until he fell asleep whether that took 10 minutes or an hour. My mom also started rocking him to sleep and that helped too (he won't do that for me.) But then again, there is a lot he will do for Gigi and not for mommy- like talk. Oh yes, he's now said:

Mama
Dada
Papa
Gigi
Beach
Mo (his stuffed moose)
Fish
Thank you

Since I'm posting a lot of pics, I'm breaking the posts down into 4 separate ones... so here goes

Sunday
After church we ate lunch at The Crab Trap! Austin was acting somewhat afraid of the beach/water, but we thought maybe it was just because he hadn't slept much the night before. We relaxed after lunch & then ate dinner with friends from church that evening!

Eating lunch- he thought it was neat that his lunch was served in a bucket!

Checking out the beach

Smiling at Nana (my mom's friend, Linda) at dinner

Monday
Austin woke up between 5:45-6:30 every morning we were there.. not fun since he usually sleeps until 8:30 at home. My mom was sweet enough to watch Austin while I went walking around the neighborhood or the beach for some exercise in the mornings. We headed to the beach & discovered that Austin was TERRIFIED of the water & the sand. Hopefully this phase will pass, as he loved it just a few months ago when we visited. We ate lunch at our favorite beach place, Pompano Joe's & then ran errands. My mom also fixed dinner almost every night- which I REALLY enjoyed!

His "safe place"- sitting with mommy on the beach towel

He would not let us put his feet in the water either- very scared of the waves

Proof

The beach

He looks so grown up in this pic

Love that smile

Tuesday
The highlight of Tuesday was riding the carousel 4 times! He was a little scared on the first ride, but was mad when we had to leave after the 2nd-4th rides!

1st ride- holding onto Gigi

A bit more confident (he was smiling- I just never got a good picture of that because he usually turns his head away when he sees the camera)

Gigi scratching his back when we got home- he went into a trance... loved it!
