Finally Getting The Hang of It!

So we've been trying rice cereal off and on for months... and he's finally started liking it! Of course it's probably because we've started giving him either bananas or applesauce with it! :)

This weekend we started back and I was determined to do it until he got it. So every night we try to force some into those little lips- he has such a strong jaw! Tonight Shane was feeding him, and he was opening his mouth like a big boy! Shane couldn't get it in his mouth fast enough! It's amazing how much they can change just overnight! Here's a video~

Major Announcement!

For those of you that haven't heard (and actually care), Jason has been named the new Bachelor!! I was hoping for Jeremy, but am equally happy with Jason! I can't wait- bring it on ABC!

I'm sure there are plenty of you that watched The Bachelor in the past, but quit after one of the MANY bad season.. but you should give it another try! Last season of The Bachelorette was the best yet, and this season promises to be fantastic! Jason is a VERY sweet fella!

FYI- The Bachelorette is one of the few shows that I can actually get Shane to watch with me (he says it's because Deanna was HOT- whatever, he loves the drama like the rest of us.) So I'm guessing that with 25 women fighting for Jason's affections, I've got someone to watch The Bachelor with me this season as well! :) He's going to be SO mad that I posted this!

Umbrella Stroller

Today we took Austin for a walk in his umbrella stroller, and he loved it! He enjoyed being able to look out & see the dogs, birds, cars, etc! Here's a few pictures before we left!

5 Months Old

I know I say this every month, but can you believe it???

This is the serious look :)

In honor of Austin turning 5 months old today, here are 5 things about him!

*He is starting to play with his toys a lot more- not just trying to put everything in his mouth (which he also does.) If I put him in the exersaucer, he will touch the toys so they make noises and turn- it entertains him for up to 45 min sometimes! He also enjoys watching Max more than before (which makes Max a little nervous, I think.)

*Austin smiles and giggles A LOT! Besides him being fussy at bedtime (learning to go to sleep on his own), he is a very happy baby! He also giggles when you kiss his neck & belly or tickle him!

*He's growing more hair! I'm sure it's not very evident by the pictures, but it's because it's growing back much lighter than before. I had light brown hair when I was little and Shane was VERY blonde! And his eyes have turned brown, if you hadn't noticed!

*I THINK he is getting his 1st tooth. You are probably thinking, "You don't know if he is or not??" These are the reasons I think he is: a bit more fussy than usual, lots of drool, chewing on things more than usual, sleeping up to 18 hrs a day, and I feel something hard on his lower front gums. But I can't confirm it because he won't let me look! I've seen a little white speck though, so I think that's it! Hopefully I can get a picture soon!

*He's started laying his head on my shoulder when he's falling asleep. Usually I cradle him, but if I hold him upright on my shoulder he just keeps his head up and look around. But now he lays his head down and turns it to the side (and fell asleep like that last night.) It may not seem like a big deal, but I've been waiting for him to do it- it's SO sweet!

So happy 5 months to my sweet little boy! Your daddy and I are so blessed to have you in our lives & we love you very much!

New Toys

Okay, here are a few pictures that I promised! In the last few weeks Austin has been enjoying his Bebe Pod seat a lot more! He not only sits in it when I feed him cereal, but also to play- it came with this neat toy attachment!

After a while he gets tired of it & just relaxes off to the side like this- it's really funny!

He's also liking the exersaucer better (thanks to Kristen for letting us borrow her old one!) I have to put towels behind his back because he's still a bit small for it (can you believe that?) I think the reason he likes it so much is because he can stand up & push off a lot- he LOVES using his legs & they are so strong!

This last shot is random- but we had some rain last week & there was a beautiful rainbow outside afterwards!

Are you ready for some football?

Well I sure am! Can I tell you how EXCITED I was last night when the first pre-season football game was played? Granted I have no ties to the Colts or Redskins... but it was great to have some football on tv again! I will say that Jason Taylor (Dancing With The Stars) was looking mighty fine in his new Redskins uniform last night though. Anyway...the 3 of us settle in on the couch with a blanket and some food, and just enjoyed the evening! We have been looking forward to the start of the season- so we can begin brainwashing little Austin!

For those of you that don't know, we are huge Texas Longhorn fans & love college football more than anything! But in the last few years I've started enjoying NFL games too, and of course love the Dallas Cowboys. But I will watch ANY game.

Now most ladies find this odd. When we go to parties on the weekends, the ladies sit & visit while the guys watch football. I try to be social, but am usually sitting in a spot where I can at least see the tv! Most of the time I just give up and go join the guys though. Do I have any other fellow female football fans out there??? Wow- try saying that 3 times in a row.

As for those who plan on leaving nasty comments about me not posting pics of Austin this time- BACK OFF. I know there are a lot of you reading out there (thanks to the blog stalker call out), but most people are not leaving comments and I feel as though my hard work is just not being appreciated. So, you will just have to wait a few more days.... :) Ha Ha! I just haven't taken any pictures lately, so I'll get on that!
