Camping... trial run

This past weekend we had originally planned to go camping with our good friends, the Windoms. But as the day got closer, I just felt like it would be a stressful experience for all 3 of us & that we needed to wait until next year. Plus the weather forecast was saying it would be in the 30s on Saturday morning- NO THANK YOU. We did, however, decide that spending Friday afternoon & evening at the campsite would be fun. So we headed out to Lake Mineral Wells State Park (1.5 hrs away) and arrived by late afternoon. After checking out the campsite, we headed out for a hike- the boys LOVED IT! Here are few pics~

Heading back to camp

While the guys worked on getting the fire going, we started getting things ready for dinner. We cooked hot dogs over the fire & then did smores afterwards- everything was great! We sat around the fire for a bit while the boys played & then headed home around 7:30. Austin watched a movie on the way home & fell asleep once his head hit the pillow at home. He was worn out & so were we!

We're looking forward to our next camping trip... especially if it goes as well as the trial run!!

BOO!

For Halloween this year Austin was a giraffe! I was a little worried that he wouldn't know what to do, but after the first house... he was a pro. It's truly amazing- like a natural instinct or something. Anyway, he had a LOT of fun! He loved running up to the houses, picking out his candy, and then eating candy in the wagon between stops! We just went up and down our street this year & still ended up with entirely too much candy~

Waiting patiently with Daddy (notice the sandals- it was warm)

I saw this in someone's yard and just had to take a pic

And these too- adorable!

This house had a lot of decorations

We're looking forward to next year already! Oh, and Austin's new favorite candy is smarties :)

Fall party at preschool

Last week Austin's preschool has fall parties! The kids dressed up, had a costume parade, went trick-or-treating, and had a pizza party for lunch! Austin had SO much fun! A few pictures from the day~

Visit from Papa Gary & Gran

A few weeks ago Shane's parents were in town visiting, so on Sunday we went over to Mat & Shanna's house for dinner! Before we ate, we spent some time in the backyard carving a pumpkin & playing in the leaves- a good time for all!

Looking at the pumpkin seeds with Gran (he did NOT want to touch the pumpkin "guts")

Can't believe he is already 2 yrs 7 mos old

Evie was a little more interested... but still wasn't sure
