BOO!

I've heard of being "BOOed" for years, but it wasn't until this week that it actually happened to us!  The premise- a friend/neighbor comes and leaves a halloween treat on your door.  They knock or ring the bell, and then run away before you can see them (so you don't know who did it!)  You put the "We've been BOOed" sign on your door, and then you do the same thing to 2 more people.

It took several times of me explaining this to Austin, but finally he was on board and decided he wanted to BOO two of his girlfriends, Sydney & Addy.  So I got together a bag of glow stick wands, stickers, halloween books, slap bracelets, jumping spiders, halloween M&Ms, and felt pumpkin decorating kits! I also made a bag of candy corn for each of them (I made the candy corn bags from ribbon and scrapbook paper- yes, I'm proud of myself.)

So tonight after meeting some friends for dinner, Austin & I got in the car and headed off to his friends' houses!  He LOVED it!  His favorite part was running to the car after ringing the doorbell, and jumping in the running car (doors open) and driving away without seatbelts on!  Of course, we pulled over once we turned the corner to get all buckled up!

He was confused on why we couldn't go back and talk to his friends afterwards, and that it was supposed to be a surprise!  We met Addy for lunch the following day & after she told us about being "booed", Austin said we had done it!  Oh well, life with a 4 year old!

Can't wait to do it again next year- what a fun tradition!!

State Fair of Texas

Today we headed down to Fair Park to the State Fair of Texas- Austin's first time!  Austin wasn't feeling 100%, so thankfully he wasn't wanting to play every game and eat tons of junk food!  We ate corny dogs for lunch and then looked at the animals and rode some rides!  A fun first experience, but definitely not something we will do every year!  I don't know how big families afford it!!!

Austin was afraid of Big Tex (he is kinda creepy looking.)  On a side note, he caught on fire and burned to the skeletal frame two days later!  This was his 60th anniversary :(

The ferris wheel- Austin was looking forward to this the most!  It costs $7 a person and you go around TWICE.

This was my stop!

Boris, the biggest hog I've ever seen

Finally the ferris wheel- the biggest in the US!  I will admit, it made me nervous to be that high.. and I'm not afraid of heights!

The big slide with Daddy

First roller coaster- LOVED IT!

Log ride with mommy!

A funnel cake is always a good afternoon snack.

A tired and very full little boy!

Natural Smile

The natural smile- something rarely caught on camera!  Love it!

Weekend with Evie

Austin's cousin, Evie, stayed with us this weekend while Mat & Shanna went to a marriage retreat!  We planned lots of fun stuff since the cousins only do sleepovers about once a year!  Evie came over on Friday afternoon & the kids decorated Halloween cupcakes together.  They had so much fun & were very proud of themselves afterwards.  They played upstairs while I cooked dinner & then we played outside afterwards~

On Saturday morning we woke up early to attend Jenny's Run for Hope!  It was a wonderful event- we participated in the 1 mile fun run & then the kids jumped on the bounce houses before the pancake breakfast!

This is right after I told Austin that we couldn't jump on the bounce houses until after the fun run.

Here we go!

Proud of the medals!

Some of the 5K & 10K runners

Afterwards we headed to the park to play and feed the ducks, then lunch, "naps", dinner, and an early bedtime!!

On Sunday we took the kids to ride the Forest Park Miniature Railroad!  It was Evie's first time and she had a blast!

Such a fun weekend!  We can't wait until next time!
