Hanging out with friends

This morning we headed over to the Windoms house for lunch and play time! We always enjoy our time together visiting with Jared & Leah, and the boys LOVE playing together! Today the boys spent time riding Reid's bike and also playing some baseball! Austin isn't nearly as good as Reid, but I was so proud of him! Jared grilled up some yummy fajitas to round out a wonderful day!

1st Day of Preschool (3's)

This past Thursday was Austin's 1st day of preschool! He is in the 3 yr olds Turtles class with Ms Jennifer & Ms Kristi! We had meet the teacher last Tuesday, but the official first day was Thursday~

Almost 3 1/2 years old!

Ready to go!

Picture with Ms Jennifer & Ms Kristi (a little unsure, if you couldn't tell)

Overall he had a wonderful 1st day of school! He seems to really like his teachers & new friends in class! His buddy, Sydney, is also in his class this year- so they will have fun together! In the 3's classes they no longer take naps (not that Austin every slept during nap time last year), so he was exhausted when we got home & took a nice long nap! A win-win for all! We're very excited about another great year at Southlake Christian Preschool!

School Bus

Austin has a fascination with school buses, so we had a fun surprise for him a few weeks ago when we visited my Aunt Adeline & her hubby, Jack, near Amarillo. Jack works in the school's bus barn & was able to take us on a little tour and ride! Here are a few pics from our adventure:

So excited to see the school buses

Happy guy

Going for a ride (sorry for the blurry pics- I was standing and the roads were a bit bumpy.)

Sitting on Jack's lap & driving the bus (on a country road)

Sitting alone like a big boy

Backing the bus into the barn

Lots of buses

Austin LOVED it & still talks DAILY about Jack and the buses in the bus barn. :)

Helper

We were walking home from them park a few weeks ago when a sweet man offered us some fresh herbs (oregano & basil) from his garden- and I was happy to accept them! So Austin and I headed home to make 3 batches of spaghetti sauce for the freezer! He loves to go get his step stool and be mommy's big helper in the kitchen!

This is the "I will look at the camera, but I don't want to smile" expression.

Me: "Austin, can you say popsicle?"
Austin: "Pop-a-Pickle"

Good enough :)

Big boy bed

The time has come.... my baby is growing up. While Austin has never tried to climb out of his crib, he is almost 3 1/2 yrs old & very heavy to be lifting in and out of a crib. So a few weeks ago we went and purchased his new big boy furniture (bed, trundle, and dresser), and it was delivered this past weekend! Well the trundle was special ordered, so we won't get it for a few months... not sure why they delivered the trundle mattress though! So we spent the morning taking down the furniture & moving it to storage- and it made me SO SAD! :(

The almost empty room

We'd been talking to Austin all week about his new bed, so he was extremely excited when the delivery men arrived! They even let him help drill some screws into the bed frame! The following pictures: keep in mind the room is not decorated yet- everything is still up from the old room (curtains, lamp, pictures, shelf, etc.) The quilt & sham are new. I will post more pics when the decorating is complete! We're leaving towards vintage transportation as a theme (trains, planes, farm trucks, tractors, etc.)

New bed- he's testing it out

The dresser

Pretending to be asleep

The first night we each took turns reading him a book while laying in bed with him (that was a nice change!) And he feel asleep immediately! 13 hours later he was ready to get up, and then took a 3 hour nap that day! Needless to say- EASY transition! He also NEVER gets out of bed & always waits for us to come and get him in the morning! Yay for big boy beds!!!

Swimming Lessons

I wanted to post this video to show the progress Austin has made with swimming lessons in the past few months. When we started he wouldn't even put his face in the water.

In the video, she is not touching his hands as he swims towards her! Good job Austin!!
